How We Help You

At Callison Integrative Health, we combine our expertise in acupuncture and Chinese medicine to provide personalized care, addressing the root causes of illness and tailoring treatments to each patient’s unique needs. Dr. Tyler specializes in treating pain, injury, and sports medicine, while Dr. Yanhui focuses on gastrointestinal disorders, stress and anxiety, and women’s health. Both providers effectively treat chronic, degenerative conditions.

How did you get into Chinese medicine and acupuncture?

Dr. Tyler had two practicing acupuncturists as parents, so Chinese medicine was a norm in his daily life growing up. He later studied medical anthropology and pre-med courses in college, but after graduating got very sick. Nothing was able to shift his symptoms until trying Chinese medicine. Two days later he was 100%. That's when he decided to get a doctorate in Acupuncture.

Dr. Yanhui grew up in China. Her grandmother was an herbalist, and she witness firsthand there how herbal treatments help patients heal. After moving to the U.S., she was introduced to a unique pulse diagnostic system and eventually enrolled in the same graduate program as Dr. Tyler—which is where they met. Since graduatiing, she's continued to build on what she learned growing up, combining traditional Chinese knowledge with rigorous clinical training to help patients.

Does acupuncture hurt?

The answer is that most patients feel little to no discomfort. In fact, we pride ourselves on effective and comfortable needle technique. if we assume you will feel any sensation during the treatment we will let you know ahead of time. Needles are just around the thickness of a human hair and are therefore near painless.

I have had some of the best experiences with Dr. Tyler. On multiple occasions when I hurt my knee or wrist, Dr. Tyler could instantly alleviate the pain with acupuncture. He also very professionally explains how the nerves, muscles, bones, and joints work together and how discomfort builds up, which helps me build self-awareness of my body. I was referred to Dr. Callison by a coworker for R knee pain that I injured in January, but begin to seek treatments a month ago. Dr. Callison is gentle, knowledgeable and explains everything easy to understand and carryover. Because of the type of treatment he is doing I am getting better sleep (it addresses my insomnia) as well as getting the blood flow to my knee. I have less knee pain now and will continue to see him as I continue to strengthen my knee with follow up exercises from PT and Dr. Callison’s treatments to return my knee to hopefully 100%. If you are looking for a good accupuncturist he’s your man! Truly appreciate the referral to him and Dr. Callison’s expertise!

You can read my review, below, from two years ago, and I'm still a very satisfied client of Dr. Callison. I see him regularly for acute health needs, including sinus issues, and shoulder/upper arm and foot pain. Every visit, Dr. Callison takes the time to listen, ask questions, and finds the right treatment for that visit and the particular area he's treating. The treatments are always individualized to your needs and I have overcome several areas of pain with the help of Dr. Callison. I've had a really great experience with Tyler. I recently had brain surgery that has come with several potential complications.
